Beach Mosquito Control is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic biologist to work at our district!

At BMCD, our entomologist assistant:
- Identifies adult mosquitoes and larvae to the genus and species
- Conducts surveys of mosquito larvae and adult population measurement
- Evaluates trapping techniques for adult mosquitoes
- Processes serum samples from the arbovirus disease sentinel flock
- Investigates resistance of mosquitoes to insecticides being used
- Conducts field tests to determine efficiency of insecticides
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors and the general public
- Assists with conducting research into pertinent topics
- Assists with maintaining mosquito colonies and Gambusia populations
- Other Functions & duties as assigned
Must have:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in entomology, biology, botany, marine science, wildlife management, zoology, or another related field. Course works in entomology and one (1) year of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- A valid Florida driver’s license, or obtain such within 30 days of hire
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the Public Health Pest Control License within six (6) months of being hired
- Certified in Mosquito Identification and Taxonomy within one (1) year of being hired
