Now Hiring Entomologist!

Beach Mosquito Control is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic biologist to work at our district!

We offer 4-day work weeks, PTO, and a very generous benefits package.

 

At BMCD, our entomologist:

  • Identifies arthropods, with a focus on larval and adult mosquitoes
  • Creates technical reports for data on mosquito collections
  • Manages a Gambusia (mosquito fish) biological control program
  • Performs operational tests for insecticide efficacy and resistance
  • Manages an arbovirus surveillance program
  • Manages a mosquito trapping program
  • Assists the Public Relations department
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field, master’s degree preferred
  • A valid Florida driver’s license

.3 years’ experience in the biological sciences or related field

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
  • Proficient in the identification of arthropods, mosquito identification skills preferred
  • Proficiency in standard laboratory equipment (microscope, micropipettes, incubators, scales, etc)
  • Knowledge of terminology, principles, and techniques used in biological research
  • Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate a small team effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative teamwork spirit in working relationships with others
